I am a treasure hunter. I love fabric, beads and "doodads". Whenever I travel, I am on a quest for bead stores, fabric stores, and out of the way places where I can discover hidden treasures and baubles, or buy fat quarters. I collect an assortment of eclectic items to stimulate my imagination. It is an ongoing journey of discovery using fabric to create images from my imagination or from real life.

I am very interested in the textiles, images, symbols and iconography of other cultures. Many of my art quilts and 3-dimensional pieces are tributes to the image and mystery of women.

I paint with fabric. Like a painter, I design my pieces using the concepts of line, form, balance, color, and texture. My palette is made up of fabrics, threads and beads and my sewing machine and hand stitching needles are my “brushes”. My fabrics may be commercial cottons, silks or velvet; antique laces or silk neckties; fabrics which I have hand dyed myself and manipulated with various techniques like shibori, bleach discharge, printing, stamping, or transferring photographic images onto the fabric. My threads may be cotton, rayon or metallic or any variety of yarns and ribbons and the beads I use I have collected from many different places. I use glass beads, carved bone, crystals, old jewelry which I have disassembled or any other found object which I can attach to my fiber pieces. I use paint, pigma pens and colored pencils to draw the faces on the people on my work.   nerally I don't plan a piece too far in advance, but start with an idea and see how the piece evolves and creates itself. Many of my quilts are tributes to the magic, strength, and mystery of women. My work is machine and  hand stitched, embroidered with silk and metallic threads, quilted and embellished with lots of beads and charms, and many fabrics I use in my quilts I have hand dyed.

My artwork reflects the whimsical, magical, and spiritual parts of myself and I seek to speak to those parts in others.
